FORT WAYNE, IN – Taylor University celebrated the opening of the newly built Horne Academic Center with a ribbon cutting the afternoon of Friday, October 4th.
The 45,000-square-foot facility on the university’s Upland, IN campus houses Taylor’s film and media production program. It features state-of-the-art sound stages, editing suites, viewing auditoriums and classrooms, designed to spark creativity among Taylor’s faculty and students in the nationally recognized program.
The building also provides dedicated space for Taylor’s educational offerings related to entrepreneurship, fostering academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
The dome entry hall of the Horne Academic Center, which was designed by Design Collaborative and built by MKS Construction, pays homage to the domed student union that was previously on the site.
“The Horne Academic Center is a testament to Taylor’s commitment to educating and training future film and television professionals,” said Quinn O’Heeney, Senior Project Manager at Design Collaborative. “We’re grateful for our partnership with the university to bring this vision of academic excellence to life.”
The project was made possible through the generosity of many, including lead gifts from Taylor graduate Dee Horne, Chuck and Lisa Surack, Ken and Virginia Cornwall, and an anonymous gift.
