Coleman began his journey in architecture in 1972 when he enrolled at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1978. During his time at Notre Dame, Coleman had the opportunity to study abroad in Rome, Italy, for a year. This experience provided him with a unique perspective on architecture and design, which he has carried with him throughout his career.
Coleman has held numerous leadership positions in the architecture industry throughout his career, including President and Owner of Coleman Architecture & Planning Corp., Director of Architecture for Panzica Building Corp., Vice President of Forsey Construction, Inc., and Vice President of Mathews-Purucker-Anella, Inc. During his time at these companies, he focused on healthcare facilities, multi-family assisted living projects, secondary educational facilities, corporate and industrial office/production facilities.
In addition to his professional experience, Coleman is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He is also a registered architect in Indiana and Michigan and has been certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) since 1987.
Outside of his work in architecture, Coleman is actively involved in his community. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of South Bend, including serving as President of the Board, and has been a member of Rotary International since 1991. He has also served on various committees for organizations such as Hannah's House of Mishawaka, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Foundation, and Saint Matthew Cathedral.
