Kevin Shelley Promoted to COO at Schmidt Associates
With a Bachelor of Architecture from Ball State University, Shelley joined Schmidt Associates in 1990. He has served as an architectural graduate, project architect, project manager and principal. During his tenure, he has completed a variety of projects for the firm’s K-12, Higher Education, and Community studios. Also, as a resident of Hendricks County, he has worked with Owners from all but one K-12 school corporation in the county. Other notable projects in Shelley’s portfolio include the NCAA Headquarters and Hall of Champions, the Indianapolis-Marion County Consolidated Civil and Criminal Courthouse, and the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. He succeeds Ron Fisher, AIA, LEED AP who will continue as Chairman of the Board and Principal-in-Charge.
“As an architect and firm Principal, I enjoy helping our clients realize their design visions and working with them to achieve more than what they ever thought was possible,” Shelley said. “In my new position, I hope to continue serving clients while working internally with our leadership to build on the strength of our operational excellence.”
In addition to his current responsibilities as a Principal and Project Manager, Shelley will develop strategies to enhance firm culture, mentor staff, grow operations, and practice servant leadership across the region.
“It has been a pleasure working with Kevin and seeing him bring great ideas to our Owners," said CEO and Principal Sarah Hempstead, AIA, LEED AP. “I also have enjoyed watching him address and resolve Owners’ challenges with innovative concepts that always lead to trust and respect. I cannot wait to see what he does next."
