The construction of the I-69 markers, estimated at a cost of $750,000, has been approved by City Council and will be funded with local income tax dollars. The construction contract for the project will need City Council approval, with the submission date to be determined in the near future.
The U.S. 30 gateway marker funding is anticipated to come through the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission via tax increment financing funds. Subject to the upcoming INDOT construction, approval for the U.S 30 gateway marker funding is expected in 2025.
Design Collaborative has paid homage to Fort Wayne’s rich history and vibrant community by creating concepts that embody the spirit of the All in Allen Comprehensive Plan, the ACT Allen County Together initiative, the Art for All Fort Wayne Public Art Master Plan and Front Door Fort Wayne program. The designs feature the city’s name — Fort Wayne for the U.S. 30 gateway, and the abbreviation FW for the I-69 gateways, symbolizing the city's identity and its promising future.
