SAN JOSE, CA — Rosendin, an employee-owned electrical contractor, has been recognized as one of the safest construction companies in the country. Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) presented Rosendin with a Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Award, applauding their achievement in promoting proven effective work practices for the last three years.

CURT selected Rosendin as the winner of the 2021 CISE Constructor Safety Award for Special Trade Contractors with more than three million work hours a year for its steady efforts to eliminate risk with advanced and innovative programs on strategic planning, emergency preparedness, training and competency, and more.

Rosendin has built a culture of safety around accident prevention. This culture of safety includes programs such as the STOP Work Card, which gives employees the right to stop working if they feel unsafe, and the Craft Empowerment Program that unites field workers and project managers twice a month to review concerns and new ideas.

“Rosendin is honored to be recognized with the Construction Industry Safety Excellence Award because nothing is more important to us than the safety of our employees and finding innovative ways to protect them are among our core values,” said Marty Rouse, Rosendin Vice President of Safety. “We place this value above all others and strive to build a stronger, safer industry by creating a healthy, supportive environment for our workers.”

Rosendin employs a staff of 7,000 people at 17 offices to design and build large-scale electrical projects. The 102-year-old company specializes in renewable energy facilities, data centers, transportation lines, stadiums, educational and medical facilities, housing, hospitality, and other commercial and industrial projects.

The company has implemented various safety and training programs, such as their Apprentice Portfolio, Pre-Task Plan cards, Code of Safe Work Practices booklets, a Mentor program, a Safety Recognition Award program, and a Knife-Free initiative. As a member of CURT, Rosendin shares its goal to establish new levels of safety performance.

“Our class of 2021 award recipients has reinforced our belief that owner companies, contractor companies, and our skilled crafts can partner effectively together to design and build complex domestic and international projects that meet specific business needs and provide jobs while protecting the health and safety of everyone on those projects,” said Art Limber, CURT Board Member and Past CURT Safety & Wellness Committee Chair in a press release.

In the last two years, the Rosendin's safety record has been recognized over 30 times by regional and national organizations, including the National Electrical Contractors Association, Associated General Contractors of America, and the National Association of Women in Construction.
