SOUTH BEND, IN — Walsh Construction joined leaders from Beacon Health System and CannonDesign to celebrate the structural topping out of Memorial Hospital's new patient tower. The placement of the final steel beam marks a significant milestone in the 10-story expansion.
The Memorial Hospital Patient Tower will provide a 300,000-square-foot facility designed to meet the region’s growing demand for advanced medical care. The project will expand adult acute care beds from 249 to 302, add 55 new adult patient rooms and a new Intensive Care Unit, and introduce larger patient rooms with dedicated family space and individual comfort controls. The design integrates enhanced technology for remote monitoring and mobility assistance, along with renovated and expanded critical care and support departments.
The new tower will help ensure patients can remain close to home for care, meeting the needs of both South Bend and the surrounding region.
