LONDON, OH — Contractors, operators, and construction professionals gathered in London, Ohio, as Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. hosted its latest Technology Day, offering a firsthand look at the tools transforming today’s job sites. The event underscored how integrated technology is driving gains in productivity, accuracy, and efficiency across projects of all sizes.
“Our goal with these events is to give customers hands-on experience to help them determine the most efficient way of completing their jobs with the various types of technology all in one place,” said Matthew Weiland, John Deere’s Senior Precision Construction Specialist. “We saw lots of excitement for our newest Next Gen SmartGrade offerings, the ability to run laser or total station control, and the all-in approach to technology from the Murphy Tractor team. I had engaging conversations with all of the Ohio customers, all of whom expressed a strong interest in how technology can enhance their businesses — and that’s what it’s all about.”
A standout moment of the day was the unveiling of the John Deere 850X Hybrid Dozer. Guests also had the chance to see SmartGrade technology in action, John Deere’s factory-integrated solution that combines machine performance with grade control to reduce rework, improve accuracy, and maximize uptime.
As the first dealer to offer both Topcon and Trimble solutions, Murphy Tractor brings a unique advantage to customers navigating the evolving landscape of construction technology. The company’s consultative approach begins with a personalized needs assessment, ensuring each customer is matched with the right platform for their equipment and operational goals. From initial setup to training and long-term support, Murphy Tractor delivers a full-service experience.
Attendees explored the power of precision through live demonstrations of Topcon’s MC-Max and MC-Mobile machine control systems, advanced survey and layout tools. Trimble’s suite of technologies included Earthworks machine control, site positioning, and data management tools. And John Deere’s full line of Next Generation SmartGrade machine control systems featured mastless GNSS and LPS solutions. John Deere Operations Center was also on display, highlighting how connected job sites enable collaboration between operators, contractors, and project managers. With the Operations Center hub, guests were able to cross-monitor engine hours, utilization, locations, fuel levels, and idle times of all demo machines from one central location.

“Machine control and job site technologies continue to evolve as customer adoption grows at an incredible pace," said Luke Kurth, Murphy Tractor’s Director of Machine Technology. "At the same time, it is challenging for customers to know what is available, what technology would provide the most benefit and return on their investment. With Murphy’s Technology Days, we brought all the different forms of technology together in a single location, with experts from John Deere, Topcon, and Trimble side-by-side with Murphy’s team of certified Support and Sales Specialists to answer all of their questions and give them hands-on operation time to compare each solution. But it doesn’t end once Tech Days is over. Customers can contact our team for onsite training and continued service and support. Our job is to make technology easy and help you reach your goals.”
By bringing together innovations from Topcon, Trimble, and John Deere, Murphy Tractor’s Technology Day aims to help contractors adopt scalable, precision-driven solutions tailored to their fleets, projects, and business goals.
