“With Bill’s guidance, we are poised to make a big impact as we leverage the successful programs he’s led across the country and integrate them into a national infrastructure that emphasizes his client-facing expertise,” said Frank Sweet, Chief Executive of AECOM’s global Environment business.
As lead of the U.S. Energy practice, which is part of AECOM’s Environment business, Abolt and his team work with clients in major population centers on initiatives that build a sustainable and resilient future. These include programs to make the electric grid more resilient in New York, increase energy efficiency in the Northeast, and electrify transportation for clients across California.
“Building a more sustainable future depends on solving today’s complex energy challenges. Bill works closely with our clients and teams to bring innovation and thought leadership to an ever-expanding market,” said Jennifer Obertino, P.E., U.S. East and Latin America Lead for AECOM’s Environment business.
Abolt brings more than 35 years of experience managing complex environmental, energy, and sustainability programs for utility, government, and private clients. Prior to joining AECOM in 2014, he led the National Energy and Sustainability practice of Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure. Previously, he served as Chief Management Officer, Budget Director, and Environment Commissioner for the City of Chicago.
