“The new Edgewood Middle School represents the future and is built to serve the community for the next 50 to 100 years,” said Dr. Mike Lubelfeld, North Shore School District 112 Superintendent of Schools. “The construction process with Gilbane was professional, clear, coherent, concise, and adaptable. At every step of the way, I was informed of progress, complex concepts were explained, and my voice mattered. I am proud to say that Edgewood Middle School was completed on time and slightly under budget.”
Designed by Wight & Co., the 110,000-square-foot project included various renovations and additions to create a modernized learning environment for District 112 students. The new facility features improved classrooms, an upgraded auditorium/music wing, a new gym addition/storm shelter, a new Learning Commons and dining space, a STEAM/makerspace, and upgraded technology and security features. The scope of work also included updated finishes, mechanical upgrades, and ADA improvements.
“A student’s learning environment is integral to their academic experience,” said Dan Sullivan, Gilbane Building Company Project Executive. “We are proud to deliver the newly renovated Edgewood Middle School to District 112 to help further their mission to foster inspiring, innovative, and engaging environments to educate students and prepare them for life success.”
