JACKSON, MS — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces the promotion of District 3 Engineer Earl Glenn to the position of Chief Engineer.

“This significant promotion is a testament to Earl’s exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication, and outstanding contributions to MDOT,” said MDOT Executive Director Brad White. “Throughout his tenure as District Engineer, Earl has demonstrated a remarkable ability to navigate challenges and foster collaboration with various teams throughout MDOT. As Chief Engineer, Earl will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation in Mississippi.”

As Chief Engineer, Glenn will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of major infrastructure projects. As District 3 Engineer, Glenn oversaw key projects, from the ongoing $137 million U.S. Highway 82 Greenville Bypass project, to leading the district’s recovery efforts following the severe weather events in Rolling Fork and Silver City, among other projects that have contributed to the enhancement of Mississippi’s transportation system.

Glenn received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Mississippi State University in 1998 and began working with MDOT at the Newton project office that same year. In 2002, he began to work with the Whitfield project office before being transferred in 2008 to the Construction Division as an Area Engineer that covered District 2 in northwest Mississippi. In 2012, Glenn became Assistant State Construction Engineer; and later, State Construction Engineer in 2016 before being promoted to District 3 Engineer in 2021.

“I am honored to continue the tradition of making Mississippi highways safer and more efficient for the traveling public,” Glenn said.
