BOSSIER CITY, LA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces a milestone for the ongoing $128 million I-20 rehabilitation project in Bossier City, Louisiana, with the opening of additional lanes and ramps.
For the first time since construction began over two years ago, motorists are able to take advantage of both lanes of travel on I-20 westbound through much of the construction zone. This is also the first time travelers are driving on new concrete along this stretch of I-20 since the interstate was built in the 1960s.
The overall project included the full reconstruction of all of the travel lanes in both directions from just west of Benton Road to Industrial Drive, along with all of the ramps at five interchanges. The project is enhancing one of the busiest sections of interstate in north Louisiana, with this section of the interstate servicing approximately 70,000 to 100,000 vehicles per day.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete by late March or early April 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
