ATLANTA, GA — Burns & McDonnell, a 100 percent employee-owned engineering, architecture, and construction firm, announces Justin Kanitz to lead the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Group in the Southeast Region. Kanitz will be responsible for leading and growing a team of over 200 employees who provide power and gas systems for communities.
Kanitz, who has been with the firm for 16 years and was named Principal in 2023, will oversee the continued growth of the construction and engineering business across multiple offices in the region. With extensive experience in the engineering, architecture, construction, and consulting industry, Kanitz leads a growing team of engineers working on electrical and gas transmission and distribution projects across the Southeast.
“Justin continues to be an asset to our clients and employee-owners with his leadership and technical knowledge,” said Oko Buckle, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Burns & McDonnell in the Southeast. “He’s visionary, strategic, and has a forward-thinking mindset and commitment to client success.”
Kanitz has managed more than 300 power delivery design projects of varying sizes and complexities. Recently, he completed nearly two and a half years as Program Manager leading one of the largest grid investment programs in the country. His experience includes project, program, account, and department management.
“I am honored to lead the T&D team in the Southeast and build on our successes,” Kanitz said. “Our team is dedicated to designing and constructing the infrastructure that powers our communities, and I look forward to collaborating with our leadership team and supporting our region.”
