TAMPA, FL — Brent Wilkins, PE, DBIA, Associate Vice President and Senior Project Engineer with RS&H, was awarded the Engineer of the Year award by the Florida Engineering Society, Ridge Chapter. This honor recognizes Wilkins’ contributions to the engineering profession and leadership in advancing infrastructure projects across Florida.
"The Engineer of the Year award highlights what clients, partners, and fellow associates learn early in relationships with Brent,” said Bill Downey, PE, LEED AP, RS&H Vice President and Florida CEI Leader. “He is truly passionate about engineering excellence and positively impacting the communities we serve."
With more than 15 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry, Wilkins has built a career defined by technical expertise, problem-solving, and dedication to delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget.
He is currently the Senior Project Engineer on the I-4 Truck Parking Facility project for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 in Hillsborough County, Florida. He is also the Senior Project Engineer on another FDOT I-4 project, resurfacing over 12 miles of I-4 through Plant City, Florida.
“Receiving this award has been extremely humbling. There is no greater professional accomplishment than to be recognized by my peers for my contribution to our community and industry,” Wilkins said. “I have been fortunate to work with so many great engineers in my career who have taken the time to be mentors and help me develop, and I am forever grateful for their leadership.
