ORLANDO, FL — The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) welcomes Gencor Industries, Inc., as a partner in The Road Forward, an industry-wide vision for sustainable communities and commerce. This partnership helps fund ongoing efforts to engage, educate, and empower the U.S. asphalt community, driving forward the milestone of achieving net zero carbon emission asphalt pavements by 2050.
Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Gencor has been a NAPA Associate member since 1958. Among other volunteer leadership roles serving the industry, Senior Vice President Dennis Hunt serves on NAPA’s Committee for Engineering Application & Practice. Gencor manufactures asphalt plants, soil remediation plants, combustion systems, and heat transfer systems for the road construction industry.
For more than a half-century, Gencor has been an innovator in the asphalt mix industry, amassing hundreds of patents and introducing technologies that have revolutionized the way asphalt mix is produced, making production more efficient and sustainable. Concepts spawned by Gencor companies include the counter-flow drum mixer, blue-smoke capture system, advanced Ultra low NOx burner, reverse-flow baghouse, low-energy warm-mix asphalt, and the use of high percentage recycled asphalt.
These innovations have shaped the industry by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving fuel efficiency, and decreasing the use of energy in every ton of asphalt mix produced, demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability. Throughout its history, Gencor championed environmental awareness long before it became a global concern and has continued to lead the development of technologies that deliver environmentally friendly and quality asphalt mix on a global scale.
“We are grateful to Gencor for their support of The Road Forward,” said NAPA President & CEO Audrey Copeland, PhD, PE, “because the industry can’t reach its net zero goals without everyone at the table."
