BIRMINGHAM, AL — Brasfield & Gorrie celebrated the addition of a three-story, 28,500-square-foot expansion that sits adjacent to its existing headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama’s Lakeview District. The investment in its campus and hometown has already supported the creation of 64 new jobs in the city.
“I’m energized by the company’s growth, and we’re collectively committed to Birmingham, where we’ve been based since our beginning in 1964,” CEO Rob Blalock said. “We’re invested in the communities that support our 13 offices across eight states, and it’s important to us to continue to show that commitment in our hometown.”
Support from the City of Birmingham, Jefferson County, and the state of Alabama were crucial in making this project a reality. Brasfield & Gorrie plans to add 85 headquarters jobs within five years. The contractor is ahead of schedule, with 75 percent of those roles already in place.
“Brasfield & Gorrie’s continued growth in Birmingham is a great example of how Alabama-based companies can lead nationally while staying deeply rooted in their hometowns,” said Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce. “This expansion not only reflects the company’s long-term vision and investment in its people, it also strengthens Birmingham’s position as a hub for talent, innovation, and opportunity in the construction industry.”
Pylon Building Group led the project’s construction.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on this important project for Brasfield & Gorrie,” Pylon President Reggie Torbor said. Founded in 2023, Pylon is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brasfield & Gorrie. “As we continue to grow and move toward establishing ourselves as an independent company, our team is honing our skills. Building on an active campus for a knowledgeable client has been an invaluable experience, and we’re excited about the path ahead for our company.”
Brasfield & Gorrie’s Birmingham headquarters now supports 1,400 employees. The $18.9 million headquarters expansion supports growth projected by the company’s long-term strategic plan. The general contractor has offices in eight states, with a total employee headcount exceeding 4,100. Its recent projects in Alabama include Southern Research’s new biotech center and campus renovations, several additions to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Protective Stadium, numerous Airbus facilities, HudsonAlpha Discovery Life Sciences and greenhouse, and the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility.
