HUNTSVILLE, AL — RNGD joined a group of civic leaders and guests at a ceremony commemorating the topping out of the new 223 Washington office building under construction in downtown Huntsville, Alabama. This traditional construction milestone takes place as the final beam — signed by members of the project team — is hoisted onto the building to signify that the structure has reached its maximum height.
A flagship property of the new Lewter District mixed-use neighborhood under development in downtown Huntsville, the new five-story, 75,000-square-foot Class-A office building is projected to open in spring 2026. Tenants will include Maynard Nexsen, a full-service national law firm that is relocating its Huntsville office to the top two floors of the new building.
The Lewter District is being developed by Emergent Properties and constructed by RNGD, which has opened a local office within the district as the construction services company continues its expansion across the Southeast.
At the topping out celebration, guests witnessed RNGD’s project delivery in action, featuring a fully integrated, RNGD-manufactured system of prefabricated steel superstructure and panelized exterior envelope — an approach that reduced the construction timeline by 30 percent.
“As a vertically integrated design-builder, RNGD is committed to serving as a catalyst for innovation — in partnership with others — and to be part of a larger movement to improve the way construction projects are delivered,” RNGD Chief Operating Officer Nick Moldaner said. “Our goal is to help move the industry forward incrementally with each project we undertake by incorporating a unique idea or novel approach.”
The new 223 Washington office building will feature 4,500 square feet of ground-floor retail with a front porch opening onto a reimagined Lewter Way, oversized windows, a custom brick masonry façade that recalls the historic buildings of Courthouse Square, a lobby with custom millwork, and off-street executive parking.
