Before joining HNTB, McCrary worked for numerous private sector firms developing carrier supply chain solutions that leveraged technology to modernize and advance freight transportation programs and procedures. Over the course of his career, he has worked on several large-scale projects including the Virginia Avenue Tunnel Renovation in Washington D.C.; the Valleyfield rail mainline relocation; intermodal terminal development in Montreal; and intermodal connectivity projects between ports in Virginia, Maryland, and Ohio. He has worked in multiple freight transportation modes, including air, rail, shipping, and trucking, throughout the globe.

McCrary has a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Davidson College and received a Master of Business Administration from Emory University. He is a member of the Transportation Intermediaries Association and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
