Every year, Terex Trucks ships a significant proportion of its articulated haulers – the TA300 and TA400 – from its Motherwell facility in Scotland to customers across North America, where the machines help increase the productivity of customers’ operations.
“What makes our haulers a great choice for waste management facilities is their high operating efficiency,” says Robert Franklin, Sales Director for North America. “Operators like their excellent maneuverability, which allows loading and unloading from excavators and wheel loaders in constricted locations. Customers find them versatile and robust, and they also appreciate the trucks’ ability to move on any terrain.”
Terex Trucks articulated haulers are designed and built to deliver an efficient performance for customers in all conditions. The TA400 is the biggest articulated hauler of the product line, with a maximum payload of 41.9 tons. From the interior of the cab to the design of the chassis, this durable machine has been created to perform in some of the most challenging applications. For great performance and productivity, the Terex Trucks engineers have ensured that the TA400’s drivetrain is perfectly matched to the engine, thanks to automatic adaptive shifting capabilities and a pre-selected two-speed transfer box, along with longitudinal and limited slip transverse differential locks.
The TA400 is powered by a fuel-efficient Scania DC13 engine that develops gross power of 444 hp and a maximum torque of 1,663 pound-force feet and boasts a heaped capacity of 30.3 cubic yards.

The TA300’s true independent front suspension further enhances operator comfort and enables excellent traction control. Thanks to the fully enclosed, oil-cooled, multi-disc brakes at all six wheels, the TA300 is perfectly suited to applications in which there are exposed moving parts – such as at a recycling and resource management facility. The breaks are supported by both the engine brake and the transmission retarder, giving the operator superb control on rough terrain as well as increasing safety and stability.
The team at Terex Trucks was able to increase the TA300’s standard heaped carrying capacity from 18.9 cubic yards to 30.3 cubic yards – which equates to an estimated payload of just 13.2 tons of low-density waste. This additional carrying capacity helps the customer to lower the cost per cubic feet moved.
