Tennessee Builders Alliance and Tennessee Titans Celebrate Topping Out of New Nissan Stadium

NASHVILLE, TN — The Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) recently celebrated a major milestone in the construction of the new Nissan Stadium, the future home of the Tennessee Titans, with a topping out ceremony, marking the placement of the final beam in the stadium’s structural steel frame. The event, attended by project partners, members of the construction workforce, Titans, and local officials, commemorates significant progress on a project that will transform Nashville, Tennessee’s East Bank.

The Tennessee Builders Alliance is a joint venture of Turner Construction Company, AECOM Hunt, Polk & Associates Construction, and I.C.F. Builders & Consultants.

“This milestone is the result of great teamwork, innovation, and commitment from everyone involved,” said John Gromos, Principal-in-Charge for TBA. “From the first day, our goal has been to deliver a world-class venue that reflects the strength and spirit of this region. We are celebrating the thousands of individuals and local businesses who collaborated to bring us to this important milestone.”

The Titans and Tennessee Builders Alliance broke ground on the project in March 2024, and in less than two years have made significant progress toward the stadium’s anticipated spring 2027 opening. Construction teams have placed more than 12,400 beams totaling 18,000 tons of steel, and poured approximately 98,000 cubic yards of concrete, forming the framework for the 1.8-million-square-foot stadium. The topping out marks roughly 20 months of progress since mobilization. Crews will soon begin installation of the ETFE roof system while continuing work on the enclosure and interior buildout.

“The New Nissan Stadium will create lasting benefits in Middle Tennessee for generations to come,” said Tyler Baumgardt, Vice President of Construction Management, AECOM Hunt. “The men and women building this project are a remarkable demonstration of what collaboration and shared vision can achieve, but it’s only the beginning. From major concerts to global championship games and, of course, Nashville’s own Titans home games, this stadium will be a driver of opportunity, economic growth, and a vibrant future for the entire region."

Designed to serve as a year-round destination, the new Nissan Stadium will feature a translucent roof, 360-degree outdoor porches with skyline views, and a 12,000-square-foot community space for public use. When complete, the stadium will host Tennessee Titans and Tennessee State University football games, concerts, and civic events, and will be capable of accommodating Super Bowls, Final Fours, and College Football Playoff games.

“Seeing this building come to life, just one steel beam from completion, is remarkable,” said Burke Nihill, President and CEO of the Tennessee Titans. “From day one, we imagined the experience for our fans — a space that captures the soul of Nashville and Tennessee and is built for our community. Today, we celebrate the dedication and hard work of thousands shaping our future.”

TBA and the Titans have prioritized opportunity and inclusion at every stage. The project recently surpassed 3.6 million hours worked with approximately 1,800 workers on site each day, and 18.5 percent of the hours have been worked by residents of Nashville’s Promise Zones. More than $110 million has been paid to Disadvantaged Business Enterprise firms, representing nearly 100 small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses.

Through more than 120 community engagements and workforce events across Middle Tennessee, TBA and the Titans have connected local residents with construction careers. The Titans Construction Training Camp program has graduated 96 participants across eight cohorts, with over three-quarters receiving job offers upon completion.
