SUNRISE, FL — Turner Construction Company joined Baptist Health and community leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of Baptist Health Sunrise Hospital, a more than $500 million investment by Baptist Health aimed to expand access to health care for residents of western Broward County in Florida. The hospital is expected to open to patients in 2029.
“This project reflects a significant investment in the future of health care for the Sunrise community,” said Kevin McCormick, Vice President, General Manager of Turner Construction Company. “Turner is proud to partner with Baptist Health on a hospital that prioritizes resiliency, advanced technology, and a patient-focused environment while enabling flexibility to grow alongside the community it serves.”
Baptist Health Sunrise Hospital will include:
- A 30-bed emergency department featuring triage areas and 24/7 emergency care
- 100 inpatient beds once at full capacity, including 10 critical care beds, with capacity for future expansion
- Four surgical suites with robotic-assisted capabilities and room to add additional suites
- A 25,000-square-foot medical office building housing an array of medical services
The campus will also include a central energy plant, designed to enhance operational reliability and resiliency. The plant will provide a dedicated and efficient source of power and mechanical systems to support critical hospital operations, helping provide uninterrupted patient care during power disruptions or extreme weather events.
