ATLANTA, GA — Swinerton Builders, a commercial general contractor with offices nationwide, announces the appointment of industry expert Cooper Martin as Project Executive for its division in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin brings an extensive construction acumen to the firm’s leadership team, with experience managing over $370 million of construction projects spanning nearly 3 million square feet. As Project Executive, Martin plays an instrumental role in pursuing new commercial opportunities as well as managing Swinerton’s expanding pipeline.
“Cooper’s involvement in numerous high-profile jobs throughout Atlanta gives us great confidence in the level of operational excellence he will deploy at Swinerton,” said Derek Mosiman, Vice President and Division Manager of Swinerton’s Atlanta division. “His experience with high-rise, multifamily, adaptive reuse, higher education, and civic builds positions him as a vital player in bringing Swinerton to the table for many of Atlanta’s commercial projects that are currently in planning stages.”
As the grandson of a civil contractor and the son of a Georgia Power electrical engineer, Martin was inspired by the AEC industry from a young age. During a college break, Martin interned on a job site and found his calling, changing his major to construction management and later graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University. He returned to the same company and rose through the ranks from Project Engineer to Senior Project Manager over the next 14 years.
His construction portfolio includes a 20-story Hampton Inn and Suites (Atlanta), Aaron Cohn Middle School (Columbus, Georgia), Dorothy Heights Elementary School (Columbus), Georgia Institute of Technology’s Love and Alumni Association buildings (Atlanta), and numerous Midtown Atlanta residential communities with adjacent parking structures, including Novel Midtown, 1018 West Peachtree, and Alta Midtown.
“I have enjoyed serving communities all across Atlanta, each with its own history and character,” Martin said. “For example, in the Old Fourth Ward District, I helped transform a historic 1915 Coca-Cola bottling plant into a Class A office space, where we found old medicine bottles from the Civil War during renovation. Preserving history while moving industry forward adds depth and intrigue to this incredible career.”

Since expanding to the Southeast in 2018, Swinerton’s Atlanta division has constructed nearly $600 million of commercial environments. The expert team of 75 construction professionals specializes in aviation, corporate interiors, health care, hospitality, education, civic, and senior and affordable multifamily housing.
