Barton Malow officially kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration last November with a float in America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Detroit, Michigan. A special centennial website was also launched to commemorate the milestone. Special commemorative features on the website include a Centennial Video Series, heritage story told by past Barton Malow Presidents, feature stories on the people, projects, and communities that define Barton Malow, and more.
More recently, Barton Malow launched its Legacy Tour, a 42-foot “museum on wheels” that traveled to various job sites this summer and will travel to more in the fall. The tour features special artifacts, interactive displays, and more for team members, partners, clients, and others to see.
Born of humble beginnings, Carl Osborn Barton founded the C.O. Barton Company in 1924 in Detroit, earning its first contract performing interior renovations for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company. Arnold Malow joined in 1927 as its Vice President and Treasurer and the firm’s name was subsequently changed to Barton Malow Company. From then on, Barton Malow has been on a path of growth and expansion, entering new building markets and geographies, as well as adopting new delivery methods along the way.
With more than 3,500 strategically positioned team members, Barton Malow is now comprised of four entities and five partner firms across North America. The entities include Barton Malow Builders, Barton Malow Company, Barton Malow Holdings, and LIFTbuild.
