ROMULUS, MI — Gilbane Building joined City of Romulus officials, first responders, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Public Safety Headquarters that will serve both the police and fire departments. The facility will replace operations currently housed in a century-old school with a modern, centralized headquarters building.
The new 77,000-square-foot public safety headquarters will provide the City of Romulus with a modern, centralized facility featuring a four-bay apparatus station, dedicated police and fire department spaces, a community gathering area, training and fitness facilities, and expanded parking. Developed in partnership with city stakeholders, the facility will enhance operational efficiency, support 24/7 emergency response, and provide first responders with a safe, purpose-built environment to better serve the community.
“The City of Romulus Public Safety Headquarters represents an investment in the people who keep this community safe every day,” said Lynn Rogien, Michigan Business Leader, Gilbane Building. “Gilbane is proud to partner with Romulus to deliver a facility that will serve the community for generations to come.”
Beyond the new building itself, the project represents an investment in the community’s future. The facility will enhance emergency response capabilities through a centralized location, provide greater capacity and efficiency for public safety operations, and establish a long-term community asset that supports continued growth and resilience. As the community continues to grow, the new facility will serve as a cornerstone of public safety infrastructure, supporting reliable emergency services for generations to come.
