The passenger-centric project will add dining and retail options as well as offer amenities such as an interfaith prayer and meditation room and a nursing suite. The concourse will also be home to a 20,000-square-foot Alaska Airlines lounge.
The project will contribute to the Port of Seattle’s goal of becoming the greenest and most energy efficient port in North America, prioritizing the health of the environment and the well-being of travelers. Fossil fuel free systems will be used for heating, tenant hot water, and cooking. Sustainable and efficient features will conserve energy and water-use including a rooftop solar array, electrochromic glazing on windows, and water efficient fixtures.
“We understand the importance of this project and the difference we can make by implementing sustainable building strategies into the expansion of this terminal,” said Bill Ketcham, Vice President and General Manager, Turner Construction Company. “We will achieve goals for the utilization of underrepresented business enterprises on the project and look forward to hiring people from the community to build a beautiful new gateway to the community.”
The expansion will increase the size of C Concourse from 80,000 square feet to more than 226,000 square feet. Construction will begin in early 2024 and is expected to be complete in 2027.
