PHOENIX, AZ — Burns & McDonnell announces the promotion of Matt Brinkman to Director of Operations for the Southwest Region. In this new role, Brinkman will support operations for a nearly 300-person team delivering integrated engineering and construction solutions across diverse industries, including power, transmission & distribution, mining, and more.
“Throughout his 28-year career, Matt has held numerous roles — from Intern to Project Manager to the admired leader he is today,” said Patrick Edwards, Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Southwest Region. “He has consistently demonstrated servant leadership and a commitment to excellence for our clients, employees, and communities.” Brinkman was elevated to Vice President in 2023 and most recently served as Power Group Manager for the Southwest team. He played a key role in expanding the firm’s solar, power generation, and mining portfolio in the region. Earlier, he established the firm’s solar business unit and led owner’s engineering efforts for renewable energy projects, including a solar thermal plant that was the world's largest at the time of completion, as well as a solar photovoltaic project that was the largest in the United States at the time of completion. “I’m honored to work for a company where people truly care — about our clients, our communities, and each other,” Brinkman said. “Every day, we get to be a part of projects that make a real difference. I’m humbled to continue serving our clients and contributing to a team that’s passionate about creating lasting impact through the infrastructure we design and build.”
