Construction Mental Health Alliance Launches Industry Pledge

CMHA’s Industry Pledge asks construction leaders to commit to visible, measurable actions that improve safety culture and workforce health.
CMHA’s Industry Pledge asks construction leaders to commit to visible, measurable actions that improve safety culture and workforce health.

The Construction Mental Health Alliance (CMHA) recently launched its Industry Pledge, which includes measurable goals and invites construction leaders to protect the physical and mental health of their workforce by committing to:

  • Preventing traumatic brain injuries and head injuries
  • Improving mental health and reducing suicide in construction
  • Managing fatigue and reducing mental and physical stress
  • Improving health, wellness, and fitness

"For too long, our industry has asked workers to power through pain, both physical and mental, without the support they deserve," said Scott Greenhaus, CMHA President. “The Industry Pledge gives every company a way to lead with intention. When we make psychological safety a shared standard rather than an individual choice, we change the trajectory of an entire profession. This is about accountability, and it only works when we move forward together."

CMHA’s website at constructionwellness.org includes resources for head injury prevention, pain management, suicide prevention, fatigue management, and wellness. The most important step, CMHA said, is reminding field teams that confidential crisis support is always available by calling or texting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. A chat function is also available at 988lifeline.org.

CMHA is a recently formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to address the challenges of mental health support in the construction industry.
