Hougard Joins CTL|Thompson as Staff Engineer
An Engineer-in-Training, Hougard has already amassed a depth of expertise in seismology, including the effects of both wind and earthquake activity ― an asset to CTL because of his ability to help draft structural designs to endure the potentially damaging wind conditions faced throughout the northern Front Range and the foothills of Fort Collins. In addition, Hougard has knowledge in the design of shallow and deep foundations and slope/earth retention systems.
Through his experience designing, drafting and detailing residential structures, he gained a thorough knowledge of applicable design codes, including ACI, ASCE 7, IBC/IRC, AISC and advanced knowledge in the use of AutoCAD. He puts his technical expertise to work for clients, helping to develop cost-effective and constructible engineering solutions.
Before joining CTL, Hougard worked as a Staff Engineer for Sound Structural Solutions, an engineering design firm specializing in residential and commercial structures based in Seattle, Washington, where he was involved with the structural design of multi-family residences, townhomes and single-family homes. He attended Montana State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.
“We are expanding our Fort Collins presence, with new testing capabilities and engineering expertise,” said Wayne Thompson, CTL|Thompson Fort Collins Branch Manager. “The experience Devin brings to our company and our clients is key to our continued success and growth.”
