Each nominee is reviewed on their involvement with Ball State University, personal and professional achievements, service to the community, and other exemplary development. With many nominees in 2022, obtaining this award was not an easy undertaking.
Pasterick's achievements began long before he started his work at DC. After graduating from the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State, Pasterick began working at a local architecture firm. For nearly 10 years, he worked on a large variety of projects and gained a wide array of knowledge in the industry. Alongside Ron Dick, also a graduate from Ball State, and Terry Wagner, Pasterick was ready to jump in the deep end and start a firm of his own. In 1992, the three friends did just that.
Design Collaborative was named after the founding partners’ desire to have the firm be a truly collaborative place that would live on long after their retirement. They didn’t want the company to be named after them, because they believed that everyone at the firm would have just as much significance as those who started it. Not only does Pasterick have a long list of creative work and professional achievements, he is always looking for ways to serve the community, support non-profit organizations, and give back to those around him.
Pasterick said, “As President, a Partner, and architect at Design Collaborative, I have the opportunity to see all angles of the business. One of the best parts of my job is being engaged with everyone across the board – from clients, to architects, to the marketing team – I get to work with people day-in and day-out in an industry that I am very passionate about. Our mission at Design Collaborative is to 'Improve People’s Worlds,' and it is humbling to be apart of such a special team.”
