The Pangere Corporation Among Select Few to Earn National Certification

GARY, IN — The Pangere Corporation, a commercial and industrial contractor based in Gary, Indiana, recently became one of just a few midwestern contractors to earn Door Safety Inspector (DSI) certifications.

Much of the work The Pangere Corp. conducts takes place in sensitive environments such as health care facilities, secured government offices, K-12 school buildings, and all phases of commercial buildings. In places like these, infrastructure such as a National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) compliant fire door systems as well as electronically controlled entry and egress doors become critically important and are the main components of the facility’s safety plans.

“The more our carpenters learn, the safer our buildings become,” said President Steve Pangere. “It’s all about protecting people. We believe that education is key for better facility outcomes and more lives saved if an emergency ever happens.”

Carpenters went through more than 100 hours of education to earn the new certifications. DSIs have the training to ensure facilities comply with all NFPA 80, NFPA 101, and NFPA 105 regulations. To receive the DSI certification, all carpenters must have the pre-requisite certifications in Door Hardware 1, Door Hardware 2, and electrified panic hardware. Then carpenters must complete a 40-hour course and pass a four-hour Door Safety Inspector certification test.

In addition to the new door safety certifications, all Pangere carpenters are certified in Infection Control Risk Assessment and are accredited fire stop installers. The company also adheres to numerous other national and international standards such as:

  • Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association Standards
  • International Building Code Standards
  • ADA Standards for Accessible Design
  • ICC Standards for Accessible and Usable Buildings & Facilities
