SACRAMENTO, CA — State leaders, project partners, and community members gathered to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the newly renovated Resources Building, now handed over to the Labor and Workforce Development Agency. The milestone marked the culmination of more than five years of collaboration and craftsmanship.
Over the course of construction, the team logged more than 1.1 million work hours with zero lost-time injuries. Through disciplined planning and close coordination, the project achieved its Certificate of Occupancy nine weeks ahead of the contract date.
The renovation also delivered economic impact beyond the job site. More than $80 million was awarded to disadvantaged businesses, including over $15 million to Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises and more than $63 million to small businesses, representing a significant investment in local firms, workers, and families.
Speaking at the ceremony, Wendy Macleod, Project Executive for Turner Construction Company, recognized the collective effort behind the project’s success. She thanked the California Department of General Services and design partners AC Martin and HGA for their creativity, discipline, and collaborative approach in navigating legacy conditions, complex inspections, and ambitious performance goals. She also acknowledged the thousands of skilled trade professionals that made project delivery possible.
