SAN DIEGO, CA — BNBuilders, in partnership with Gensler, has completed Pacific Center, a major life sciences campus developed by Sterling Bay in San Diego, California's Sorrento Mesa neighborhood. The 690,000-square-foot project consists of four new buildings and substantial site improvements, delivering a modern, amenity-rich environment for research and innovation.
The project includes four distinct buildings: a six-story structural steel lab and office building, a six-story architectural concrete building, a 12-story post-tensioned parking structure, and a two-story mass timber amenity center.
A rare construction type for San Diego, the mass timber building houses a curated collection of chef-driven food programs and community-centered spaces including The Treehouse, a market and café, as well as a future sit-down restaurant called The Perca. The structure also includes AVNU Wellness Club, a fitness center featuring equipment, group classes, and wellness services such as physical therapy and personal training.
"Our goal was to build a space that not only meets the technical needs of life sciences tenants but also fosters connection and well-being for the entire community," said Alessandra Lapadula, Project Executive at BNBuilders. "The use of mass timber brought both beauty and sustainability to the heart of the project."
BNBuilders self-performed concrete work on the architectural concrete building and drywall services across the entire campus.
