TULSA, OK — The
Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGCOK) has honored
Cantera Construction Company with two Build Oklahoma awards and has honored
Manhattan Construction Company with four Build Oklahoma awards and with the Best of the Best top honor. AGCOK’s awards program represents the best of the best commercial building projects in the state. The awards were presented to team members at AGCOK's annual banquet at the Embassy Suites Norman Hotel & Conference Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Cantera Construction Company received Build Oklahoma honors for construction of the following projects:
ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the Division 3 | $2-$5 Million Category
Cantera’s work on this project included the addition of 47,000 square feet of slab on grade concrete and multiple elevated decks to accommodate upper deck concourse areas, suites, bleacher additions, media hospitality room, press areas, VIP lounge, and new restrooms. The project had more than 5,000 cubic yards of concrete and 700,000 pounds of reinforcing steel. With the completed addition, ASA Hall of Fame Stadium can now claim that they are home to the largest softball complex in the world.
Timberlake Construction Company, Inc. was the construction manager, and
Triad Design Group was the architect.
Cox Business Center Renovation in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Division 3 | $2-$5 Million Category
The project included demolition and renovation of the original arena to lower level storage and a 40,000-square-foot ballroom. A three-story clear lobby entrance was also added with a new exterior concrete plaza. Following the demolition of the existing arena bowl, Cantera installed 80 deep vibratory cased piers, and associated foundations inside the existing building. Cantera also installed the concrete for the new exterior plaza. Cantera worked with
Tulsa Vision Builders on this project, a joint venture between Manhattan Construction Company and
Flintco.
MATRIX Architects Engineers Planners, Inc. provided the design.

Cox Business Convention Center Renovation in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Commercial $50+ Million Category
Manhattan Construction Company also received the Best of the Best award in the $50+ million category for this project. The Best of the Best award further recognizes a Build Oklahoma award-winning project that was exceptional and worthy of additional recognition. For the Cox Business Convention Center Renovation, Manhattan Construction Company served as construction manager. As mentioned above, the project consisted of two major elements, a new three-story clear lobby entrance and the conversion of the historic convention center area into a 40,000-square-foot ballroom.
Oklahoma State University O’Brate Baseball Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma in the Recreational $50+ Million Category
The new O’Brate Baseball Stadium at Oklahoma State University is a 5,000-seat stadium that includes 13 suites and 400 premium seats in dedicated club and suite areas. Built by Manhattan, designed by
Studio Architecture, and engineered by
Wallace Engineering, this new baseball stadium features modern-day player facilities, including an indoor training facility, a pitching lab, an artificial turf infield that allows for practices to take place year-round, multiple bar and food services areas, and audio and visual equipment. Also included are a clubhouse and players’ lounge, a nutrition center, and an operations center that consists of a sports medicine area, additional training spaces, and an equipment room.
BOK Center River Spirit Lounge in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Recreational Up to $5 Million Category
For this project, Manhattan Construction Company, in a joint venture with Flintco, known as Tulsa Vision Builders, served as construction manager.
GH2 was the architect, and Wallace Engineering, and
Olsson Engineering were the engineers. The BOK River Spirit Lounge was a 5,000-square-foot renovation to the existing BOK Center that added a new bar and lounge with a 1,000-square-foot private entrance.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers COVID-19 Alternative Care Facilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the Healthcare $5-$10 Million Category

Lee & Browne Consulting Engineers, this project is a FEMA/U.S. Army Corps of Engineers mission assignment issued under a Presidential Declaration of Emergency to renovate and convert existing hospital spaces. Working concurrently in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Manhattan Construction converted 100 patient rooms at the INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center Portland Campus and 116 patient rooms at the OSU Medical Center Hospital into Category 2 Plus patient spaces in only 14 days.
