USGBC Detroit Region recognizes six people (five with Volunteer Leadership Awards and one with a Legacy Leadership Award), and four projects (two with Leadership Awards and two with honorable mentions). The volunteers receiving the Leadership Awards have all been involved with the USGBC Detroit Region community and have spent much of their time focusing on supporting sustainability locally.
The volunteer receiving the Legacy Leadership Award helped to establish the initial USGBC Detroit Region chapter and has continued to dedicate passion and time to supporting sustainability locally. Eligible projects were judged based on the categories in the LEED rating system.

Anthony Wayne Housing is part of a phased student housing master plan at Wayne State University. The LEED Silver building comprises a new 11-story central tower, with a connected six-story south wing and an eight-story north wing. The building is approximately 400,000 square feet and features studio, one-, two- and four-bedroom units with kitchens and bathrooms. The facility also includes lounge spaces, outdoor courtyard green spaces, retail space, and a campus health clinic.

The AUCH Construction Headquarters is recognized for exemplary leadership in energy and environmental design. From the beginning, AUCH envisioned a project that would tell a story of responsible corporate stewardship. AUCH’s position in the construction industry allowed it to leverage the message of sustainability, energy/resource conservation, and innovation across the owner, architecture and engineering, contractor, tradesperson, and local communities.
Consumer Energy's Livonia Service Center was one of the first registered LEED v4 projects in the U.S. and includes office, utility meter service, and vehicle maintenance areas. Sustainable project features include using an integrative design process, substantial energy savings verified through energy modeling, envelope commissioning, a high-performance HVAC design, and reflective interior finishes to enhance daylighting.
LINC UP (Single Family Affordable Housing) - LEED Silver | Achieved Certification Under LEED v4.1 in October 2020
LINC UP has earned LEED Silver certification under the LEED 4.1 rating system. This home is a single family residence built in Grand Rapids’ Seeds of Promise neighborhood. It was LINC UP's first newly constructed home to achieve LEED certification — the result of working through the Grand Rapids Affordable Housing Program and in consultation with the GreenHome Institute to fund certification.
