PORTLAND, OR — The Sundt Foundation has awarded $20,000 in grants to four nonprofit organizations serving children and families across the Pacific Northwest. The funding will support programs that address housing, education, youth development, and foster care.
“At Sundt, our employee-owners believe in building stronger communities through service and philanthropy. By awarding grants each quarter, in addition to our volunteer efforts, we can work together to ensure vital resources and opportunities reach everyone in our community,” said Ken Kubacki, Sundt Vice President and Northwest Regional Manager and Sundt Foundation Regional Representative.
Path Home received $5,000 to support its Family Village Shelter, the first shelter featuring trauma-informed design and architecture. Serving 350 individuals each year, Family Village provides families experiencing homelessness with private rooms, food, showers, laundry, play areas, and services such as culturally specific domestic violence advocacy and employment training.
The foundation awarded $5,000 to Girls on the Run Greater Oregon, which inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a curriculum that integrates physical activity with life skills. The grant will expand programming in schools, where more than half of students live below the poverty line, giving 30 girls the opportunity to participate in twice-weekly practices, connect with six volunteer mentors, and cross the finish line of the Girls on the Run 5K alongside their families and community members.
