Spence most recently served as firm president, Jackson as chief operating officer, and Worrell as director of architecture.
“The global pandemic threw our best-laid plans into flux, and Tim led us through by addressing new challenges for our clients and our business,” said Kevin Token, board chair. ” We are excited about the way we are positioned for the coming years and by the opportunities we will have with Tim as the firm’s visionary leader.”
As CEO, Spence will set the firm’s direction while challenging and encouraging all employee-owners to embrace that vision and strengthen BSA’s culture of empowerment and collaboration.
“When I joined BSA eight years ago, I knew I joined a company with great integrity and a successful, rich history,” said Spence. “BSA possesses untapped potential, and I look forward to pushing this firm to greatness.”

To his new role as chief operating officer, Worrell brings experience as a BSA principal, regional director, and director of architecture. He and Spence partnered in 2015 to guide the successful launch of BSA’s Raleigh studio, which quickly grew from a two-person office to the highly successful, multi-disciplined, and sustainable studio that exists today.
“I am excited to contribute my expertise to the continued growth and success of BSA,” said Worrell, who brings 23 years of professional experience to his new role. “As the new strategic leader of people and processes, one of my main priorities is to deepen the firm’s culture of empowerment. I am eager to see what we can accomplish together over the next few years.”
