FORT WAYNE, IN – Design Collaborative celebrated the grand opening of Humane Fort Wayne’s new, expanded facility at 901 Leesburg Road. After more than 70 years of continuous growth and service to the region, the much-anticipated new location marks a significant milestone for the organization.
From humble beginnings, Humane Fort Wayne has outgrown its previous locations at Hanna Street and Maycrest Drive, necessitating a larger, more innovative space to fully encompass all of their lifesaving programs and services.
The new facility features a significant expansion, including double the number of dog kennels and three times as many cat kennels as the original buildings. In addition, updated indoor and outdoor spaces have been created with both animals and people in mind. These include new dog kennels with indoor-outdoor areas, large-windowed cat colonies, and dedicated spaces for shelter dogs to receive indoor training and enjoy outdoor play.
Adoptions will continue at the current Hanna Street location until Aug. 25th, after which Humane Fort Wayne’s animals will move to the new facility and will be available for adoption from Sept. 3rd at the Leesburg Road venue. Services will still be provided at the Maycrest Drive Clinic until a moving date is decided.
