MIAMI, FL — Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has begun a widening project along Florida’s Turnpike Extension/SR 821, from SR 836/Dolphin Expressway to NW 106th Street. This project includes the following improvements:

• Widening the Turnpike to 10 lanes, between State Road (SR) 836/Dolphin Expressway to NW 106th Street/Flagler Station Boulevard
• Widening Turnpike bridges over SR 836/NW 12th Street, NW 25th Street, NW 41st Street, NW 58th Street and the NW 74th Street Canal
• Converting NW 117th Avenue, between NW 34th Street and NW 41st Street, into a northbound Turnpike entrance ramp and a slip ramp for local traffic continuing on NW 117th Avenue, north of NW 41st Street
• Interchange improvements at SR 836 and NW 12th Street, including construction of three new ramps
• Intersection improvements at NW 12th Street, NW 41st Street and NW 74th Street
• Constructing sound walls along qualifying residential areas adjacent to the Turnpike
• Asphalt milling and resurfacing, guardrail and fencing, lane striping, drainage, signage and lighting improvements

It is anticipated that these improvements will cost $245 million, and construction is expected to be completed in 2024. This schedule may change due to inclement weather or unforeseen conditions.
