"Kat is well-suited to lead Atlanta's Special Projects group," said Derek Mosiman, Vice President and Division Manager, Swinerton Atlanta. "She is adept at building a high-performing team and developing its expertise. She is skilled at collaborating with clients to ensure a superior quality finished product that aligns with defined objectives and needs. Kat is already proving to be an incredible asset to the Atlanta team with her passion for high-end design and impeccable attention to detail while managing large-scale projects."
During her construction career, Alavian has been involved in approximately $600 million in commercial projects, $450 million of which have been during her Swinerton tenure. Alavian's recent work includes oversight of a $90 million multi-phased, multi-campus rollout for a technology company. The project scope included buildouts of several creative offices, a sound studio, production space, game rooms, a lab, seismic retrofit, an electrical upgrade, and atrium and lobby improvements.
Additionally, Alavian oversaw and managed the construction process for service centers, manufacturing facilities, and showrooms for an automotive company. She also oversaw $63 million of lobby and capital improvement projects in several, 100%-occupied high-rise office buildings. The projects varied in size and complexity; however, all included high-end lobby renovations incorporating natural stone, water features, landscaping, hardscaping, structural upgrades, and finishes.
Alavian joins the Atlanta team, which recently added Business Development Lead Shelly Schwerzler. The Atlanta office, which opened in 2018, has been a resource for projects and clients including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Delta Air Lines, 3M, TPA Group, SAFStor, Atlantic Residential, and more. This year, the office expects to top $150 million in revenue, a 130% increase year-over-year.

"We are committed to recruiting and retaining top talent and offering our team a premium, unique environment that not only showcases our investment in our people, but also the superior quality our company is known to provide our clients and the community," Mosiman said.
This fall, the Atlanta team will relocate from the Perimeter CBD to 251 Armour Drive at the south end of the adaptive reuse development Armour Yards. The new workspace includes 22 private offices, 30 workstations, two flex rooms, two meeting rooms, and a preconstruction room. Among the amenities are a fitness studio, wellness room, and a working lounge with overhead doors connecting to a patio. A total of 53 Atlanta professionals will occupy the space.
Since expanding to the Southeast, the Atlanta office has constructed $358 million of commercial environments. The team specializes in aviation, corporate interiors, self-storage, senior housing, hospitality, and affordable multifamily housing.
