The purpose of this contract is to ensure the timely and efficient addressing of immediate engineering needs for existing bridges within the District Maintenance Office. COWI's expertise in evaluating concrete segmental bridges has been highly regarded by FDOT, having previously worked on structures such as the bridge over Channel 5 and the Long Key bridge in the Florida Keys.
"This contract reflects the trust and value FDOT places in COWI's expertise in evaluating critical assets within the district's inventory," said John Westphal, Head of Section, COWI in North America. "We are proud to continue our partnership with BCC Engineering and contribute to the safety and longevity of Florida's bridge infrastructure."
With robust funding available for the duration of the contract, this collaboration is expected to yield significant work assignments over the next five years. As one of several engineering subconsultants to BCC, COWI will respond to tasks as requested throughout the contract period, employing their workflows to deliver engineering solutions.
"COWI remains at the forefront of innovation and is committed to delivering exceptional structural engineering work," Westphal said. "We are grateful for the opportunity to serve on this contract and look forward to working together with BCC and the district to ensure the safety and reliability of Florida's bridges."
