“We are excited to continue our partnership with Orange County Public Schools,” said Shane Burnsed, Area Manager, Gilbane Building Company. “We look forward to delivering campus enhancements that serve students, teachers, and our local community and help grow our workforce in our local area.”
For the first time since the building’s opening in 1981, this 135,000-square-foot, five-story occupied facility will undergo complete renovation as part of this overhaul effort. Gilbane Building Company will accomplish this project in two phases with an anticipated completion date of late fall of 2023. Construction of the first phase is currently underway while part of the building remains occupied and classes are held daily.
Both phases of the project will consist of extensive interior renovations, from complete interior demolition to building new spaces. The newly built facility will include areas with technology for labs, focused on training rooms with specializations in health care and patient care, including practical nursing technology, health unit coordinator/monitor technician, dental assisting, patient care assistant, nursing assistant, surgical technology, intensive care unit training space, examination rooms, administrative offices, student services, a campus store, and conference space.
"A new building means everything," said Scott Weidl, Senior Director at the Orange Technical College main campus downtown. "The education our students will be getting because the enhanced building will make all the difference."
