The newly built ramp in the 820/35W interchange will create greater mobility and additional access for TEXpress Lanes, as well as providing additional options for motorists. The new direct connector is part of the larger managed lane network that has been built in North Texas to provide motorists with added choices on ways to reach their destination.
In July 2018, the North Tarrant Express 35W Segment 3A project was opened, two months ahead of schedule. The $1.6-billion project provides drivers the option to travel along the newly rebuilt and expanded I-35W or the NTE 35W TEXpress Lanes from downtown Fort Worth to North Tarrant Parkway. The new corridor connects to the North Tarrant Express project along I-820 (North Loop) and SH-121/183 (Airport Freeway), adding an additional 13 miles to the NTE TEXpress Lanes in northeast Tarrant County.
Motorists can expect to see other enhancements occurring at the I-35W/I-820 interchange and along Mark IV Parkway at I-820 as part of the expanding North Tarrant Express project.
