During the week of the camp, students received skills training and opportunities to explore careers in the construction industry. Skilled professionals guided participants as they learned essential building skills, including personal safety, tape measure reading, concrete and rebar work, soldering, conduit bending, Building Information Modeling, lamp building, heavy equipment operation, framing and woodworking, roofing, and painting.
TRF Camp Build offers a safe and supportive environment for students to gain practical, real-world building experience by building lamps, concrete steppingstones, soldering a jewelry/hat stand, and a full-sized doghouse that will be donated to the local community. The goal of TRF Camp Build is to help students realize they can do anything as they discover the joy of building and understand how it positively impacts their community.
This initiative is of importance to the community as it equips middle school students with skills, exposes them to potential career opportunities, and encourages community engagement through hands-on building projects.
