SAN ANTONIO, TX — Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) announces Travis Owens, PE, has been installed as the inaugural President of the newly chartered San Antonio Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). As President, Owens will lead the organization in advancing its mission to promote a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation system through education, innovation, and fellowship.
Owens, a Professional Engineer at LAN, brings years of experience and leadership to this new role. As President of the ASHE San Antonio Section, Owens will spearhead initiatives aimed at advancing highway infrastructure development, connecting industry partners, and providing educational opportunities to enhance the transportation system across the region. One of ASHE’s main goals is to function as a liaison between the public and private sectors to facilitate discussions and promote a spirit of unity from both sides of the table.
“I am honored to serve as the inaugural President of ASHE San Antonio,” Owens said. “This section will play a critical role in supporting the growth of the highway industry in our region, and I look forward to working alongside fellow professionals to promote innovation and excellence in transportation. I’m excited for many constructive conversations between the consultant community and public agencies — especially TxDOT, local cities, counties in the region, and transit agencies such as VIA."
Since its founding in 1958, ASHE has grown into an organization with over 6,000 members across nine regions and 50 operating sections, with the San Antonio Section being the 50th section chartered. The San Antonio Section is the latest addition, becoming Texas' fourth section and further enhancing support for the highway industry in the Southwest Region.
