Cadence McShane Construction Company Completes Hughes Middle School for Burleson ISD
Attendees of the ceremony included the Cadence McShane leadership and project team, members from the Stantec design team, Burleson ISD officials and Facility Advisory Committee, the parents, students and alumni of Hughes Middle School.
The complete modernization and fine arts addition to Hughes Middle School began during the 2018 summer break and continued throughout the school year without major disruption to the students and faculty. Cadence McShane was able to condense the original project schedule from 7 phases to 5 phases, which allowed the project to complete almost two full months ahead of schedule.
Designed by Stantec, the 165,000-square-foot renovated facility features 54 classrooms, a cafeteria with a commercial kitchen, updated library, added lab and visual arts spaces and new collaborative learning spaces to promote innovative learning. The 10,000-square-foot addition added a new band hall, practice rooms and office space.
Cadence McShane constructed the renovations and additions to the middle school utilizing metal stud and CMU framing clad with both standard and red glazed masonry veneer. The existing campus received new metal panel soffits throughout accompanied by a new main entrance.
“We are proud to update this 50-year-old facility to a new, state-of-the-art learning environment for the students and faculty of Hughes Middle School,” said Will Hodges, President of Cadence McShane. “Cadence McShane has completed many schools in the Fort Worth area, and we are proud to have successfully partnered with Burleson ISD and Stantec on this project, which will have a lasting impact on the community for many years to come.”
