City of Corpus Christi Announces Murphy as Chief Operating Officer for Water Utilities
In this new role, Murphy will designate and lead the strategic direction of the department to identify and develop new programs, initiatives, and activities for all employees of Water Utilities. He is also responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day business operations, planning, delivery, management, and continuous improvement of all aspects within the utility.
Murphy has a bachelor's and master's degree from Texas Tech University. He most recently served 16 years as the Director of Public Works for the City of Greenville, South Carolina. He comes equipped with an engineering background, experience in municipal government, and a successful record of project initiation and completion.
"On behalf of the City of Corpus Christi and the City Council, I wish to extend a warm welcome to the new Chief Operating Officer for Water Utilities, Mike Murphy. Our city staff is tasked with selecting leaders whose values are in direct alignment with our city's values and goals. We believe the best person to bring into our team has been selected for those very reasons," Guajardo said.
