American Constructors Celebrates 40 Years in Business
Founded in 1982 by Bill Heine, American Constructors began working with a private developer on mid-rise office building projects in downtown Austin. The firm has expanded into a full-service general contractor with a team of 130-plus employees. American Constructors offers comprehensive project planning, pre-construction, design build, facility assessment, construction, and maintenance services and has completed over $2 billion in projects.
“Throughout the past four decades, much has changed about Central Texas, but our commitment to our clients has never wavered,” Burger said. “We’re proud to be part of this region’s growth and look forward to another 40 years serving our community. Beyond the work, we’re most grateful for our exceptional employees and the relationships we’ve built in this region.”
Over the years, American Constructors pioneered building techniques that were previously not common to the region, including energy-efficient concrete panel exterior skin that benefits the clients’ timeline, budget, and building performance while minimizing environmental impact.
Additionally, American Constructors has established a long tradition of philanthropy, dedicating time, talent, and resources to the betterment of Central Texas. In 2019, the company formed the American Constructors Foundation, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to positively impacting communities by funding local organizations. These philanthropic efforts include continued contributions to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area that total over $2 million since the company’s founding.
