LLC and Lane Construction Corporation, recently celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new Bruckner Expressway over Westchester Creek (Unionport Bridge) in the Bronx, New York. The event marked the completion and full opening of a vital infrastructure project that replaces the original 1950s-era bridge — enhancing safety, mobility, and connectivity for tens of thousands of daily commuters.
The $232 million Unionport Bridge Replacement Project replaces the aging bascule bridge with a modern double-leaf bascule structure designed for a 75-year service life. The bridge connects the Cross Bronx Expressway, Bruckner Expressway, and Hutchinson River Parkway, serving as a critical link between borough neighborhoods and key regional corridors.
Key features and improvements include:
- Two side-by-side, single-leaf bascule spans, each supporting three lanes of traffic
