New Jersey DOT’s Capital Program Delivers More Than $1.6B in Construction Contracts and Consultant Selections

TRENTON, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) delivered a Capital Program in state fiscal year (SFY) 2026 of more than $1 billion in construction contract awards and the second largest amount of consultant selections in a single year.

During the recently concluded fiscal year, NJDOT awarded 102 construction contracts at a total value of $1.102 billion, the sixth highest amount awarded in a single year. The state fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.

In addition, the department made 163 consultant selections valued at $565 million. This represents the second largest value of consultant selections in NJDOT history, just behind the current record of $585 million awarded last year in SFY 25. These contracts help speed projects through the delivery pipeline, to help get more work out on the street sooner.

"Transportation is the lifeblood of New Jersey's economy, and we're making the investments needed to keep our state moving," Governor Mikie Sherrill said. "These projects will deliver critical infrastructure improvements, provide good-paying union jobs, and build a safer, more reliable transportation system for the millions who depend on NJDOT every day."

“As stewards of New Jersey’s hard-earned tax dollars, the NJDOT Capital Program is responsibly shepherding more than $1 billion into projects that improve the safety, reliability, and accessibility of New Jersey’s transportation network,” NJDOT Commissioner Priya Jain said. “I would like to thank Governor Sherrill and the Federal Highway Administration for providing the necessary resources for the department to continue delivering capital programs that better the quality of life for residents, while ensuring the safe movement of goods and services that bolster our state and regional economies.”
