The assets acquired also include the operations of the Chesapeake Barge Terminal that will be the gateway for barging construction materials in high demand, particularly C-33 sand, into the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach region. This will be the third terminal added to Chaney Enterprises transportation hubs in addition to the Sussex Barge Terminal in Seaford, Delaware, and Waldorf Rail Terminal in Waldorf, Maryland.
“We are extremely happy to officially join the Norfolk, Chesapeake, and VA Shore markets," said Francis Chaney, III, Chief Executive Officer for Chaney Enterprises. "Bringing excellent products and services to this market is a major milestone for our family-owned business that is getting ready to celebrate our 60th year in operation in January 2022."
This will be Chaney Enterprises’ sixth expansion in Virginia with their most recent announcement of their first affiliate company, Felton Brothers, a ready-mix concrete operation out of Clarksville, Virginia, plus a recent acquisition in Richmond, Virginia, of GreenRock Materials’ ready-mix concrete plants and sand and gravel operations in October 2020.
