To reach the milestone, the Balfour Beatty team poured 1,800 yards of concrete, set 191 tons of steel, and placed 75,654 block units of the building’s masonry bearing to complete the new single-structure facility that will accommodate the U.S. Air Force’s 89th, 744th, and 83rd squadrons.
“I am very proud of our project team and industry partner’s work to reach this monumental milestone at Joint Base Andrews,” said Dan Novack, Balfour Beatty President in the Mid-Atlantic. “This achievement is a true testament to our team’s ongoing commitment to collaboration, safety, and operational excellence. As a dedicated partner to NAVFAC and their building goals, we look forward to future progress in the delivery of the Air Force Consolidated Communication Center, which will greatly bolster the nation’s defense capabilities.”
The CCC is a design-bid-build project that was awarded to Balfour Beatty in fall 2021. The firm-fixed-price contract also includes options to provide furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Construction is ongoing for the CCC and is scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
